THE KIDS (Single)
I'm not really sure what I was trying to say in THE KIDS. I wrote the song 35 years ago so the original meaning has faded somewhat. I think it evokes a sense of innocence that children begin life's journey with. Over time we, the townfolk, learn to fear and mistrust but THE KIDS aren't scared. They don't run. They recognize the good in people, even scary looking strangers.
The song has a bit of a retro vibe, being 35 years old and incorporates a nice organ & mellotron backdrop and of course a soaring guitar solo. I hope you enjoy listening to THE KIDS!

ANIMAL SOULS is a multi-genre, independent music project headed by bassist/producer Michael Fisher, and is based out of Abbotsford, BC, Canada. The project features an ensemble of some of the best players and singers in the Fraser Valley and abroad.
Michael has been writing and performing music since the late 1970's but as fate would have it, only began seriously recording and producing his music in recent years. That fate was the Covid pandemic. This gave Michael the opportunity to retire from a 27 year career at Live Nation Entertainment and pursue music full time. In that time, Animal Souls have released a 10-track LP 'Wisdom of Crowds', a 2-track EP 'Take Me Home' and 8 singles, with the upcoming December 13th release of 'THE KIDS' being the 9th.
The instrumentation and arrangements for Animal Souls music is dictated solely by the song itself, not the genre. No two songs really sound alike and you're as likely to hear flute, dobro, violin or layered synths as you would typical rock instruments on any given track.
